Pros and cons of How to Cook Everything Veg app for iPhone and iPad

How to Cook Everything Veg app good for

This app brings all recipes from the book and is packed with nice features such as a shopping list generator, timer and the ability to print or export recipes. It is a great complement to the book of the same name.
Clear recipes and the variations are great. Highly recommend!
Very well designed for the iPad and iPhone. Searching for recipes is clever and easy. I love the timer that is usable right inside the recipes. The app is a pleasure to use. The recipes, their variations and the comments from the author invite creativity and freedom.
Wow, exactly what I needed, awesome recipes, easy to use app and very well designed. Its one app that I am sure to use everyday. Worth the time to write a review. MB good job!! Noosh
Really easy to use and follow, and thats coming from someone with zero cooking experience or knowledge. Tons of recipes, loads fast, and is really well organized.
Mark Bittman remains one of the best cook book authors that encourages experimentation and an intelligent approach to cooking. He helps you understand how the recipe works so you can learn to modify and experiment as you cook. The format is excellent, especially with a community aspect by voting on recipes that you have cooked. Fantastic work, and much like his how to cook everything app, it is highly recommended.

Some bad moments

I was very surprised at how few photos there are in this app. It seems the only recipes to have pictures are the weekly highlighted ones. Even his top 100 essential recipes do not have photos. Odd and disappointing.
This app is nothing but a confusing cookbook. Its hard to get around in it, its got symbols that are not explained, and it has very limited menus and featured recipes. I dont get why its getting rated so high. Does anyone know what fmve is? I havent figured it out. Does anyone care about the opening where it shows pictures of the author with statements about cooking? Is this really supposed to be helpful? I dont get why this is getting such high ratings. I thought it would give menus and recipes to go with them. I at least thought it would give the book, as it says it does. It might, but good luck getting around in it. If I have better luck later, Ill update this, if I can. Right now, Im saying I dont like it at all. Just go by an e cookbook. Itd be a lot better.
This app has been completely abandoned. When I open it, I get warnings from Apple because No one can be bothered to update the thing. Ugh.
my favorite part is being able to auto make grocery lists with the ingredients needed for the recipe.
I love this app. Both versions (everything and vegetarian) are great! I especially adore the vegetarian one. All I have to do is follow the recipe, and everything I cook is now amazing! You can go by category, search by ingredient, easy-fast dishes, etc. It doesnt have pictures, but somehow you end up not needing or missing them. The instructions are really clear, good, and easy to follow. I also love that multiple options are often given for an ingredient, so you can easily do with whats in your pantry or available at the store without risking the quality of your outcome. Its only missing one star because the iPhone app doesnt sync with the iPad app, which can be quite annoying. I like to select my recipes for the week and create my weekly shopping list from this selection via the iPad app. But when I go shopping, ideally I would be able to have my shopping list and the ability to use it in the iPhone app (I love the function to tap on an item and move it to "purchased"). But I cant use the apps awesome shopping list on the go, unless I go to the store with my iPad or do my recipe browsing on the iPhone (too small for efficiency). I still can email the list to myself as a plain text list, so its not the biggest of deals. But please add a sync function!
Seriously, this book gave me the tools I needed to eat well without meat. Highly recommended!
